Additional Event Information
Setting out on trails around Carsington Reservoir, this approx 4.5 mile route begins with great views across the water. Moving away from the reservoir and picking up little lanes, an ascent is made towards Kirk Ireton. At the top of the ridge views open up across the surrounding countryside for miles around. Winding down into the pretty village, there is time to enjoy the picturesque church and cottages as we pass through. The route concludes by re-joining the Carsington Trail. Manageable challenges include light traffic exposure, as well as cycle and pedestrian traffic.
Worth Noting:
Carsington Trails are multi-user. Walkers with dogs or pushchairs and cycles are likely to be encountered.
Trails are hardcore surfaced and may be stony.
There is some roadwork on small country lanes. Farm traffic is a possibility.
There may be livestock alongside the route.
The car park is most suitable for trailers and smaller horse boxes due to a narrow entrance. Parking is charged at a maximum of 5 for all day.
Group size is limited to 6+guide. All horses and riders must be covered by their own Public Liability Insurance. Under 18s are welcome, but on a first visit must be accompanied on the ride by an adult. Places can be booked using the below link and cost 40 each.
