Additional Event Information
This approx 7 mile, walk and trot only route forms a circuit around the picturesque Goyt Valley. Setting out on country lanes, the route quickly takes to waterside trails which formerly made up part of the course of the High Peak Railway. Passing between the Errwood and Fernilee Reservoirs, an ascent is made to offer panoramic views from woodland above the valley. Returning via tracks passing through farmland, the route concludes through Taxal, and includes a water splash.

Worth Noting:
Parking is in an unfenced layby beside an A road.
Going is often stony, and can be uneven, both up and down hill.
Livestock may be encountered both on and alongside the route.
There are likey to be cyclists, and walkers with dogs or buggies along the way.
There is some roadwork, mainly on quiet lanes, but a short section along a 40mph A road is necessary to connect the circuit.
There is some steep going, both up and down on a mixture of surfaces, some of which may be slippery for shod hooves.
A water crossing is included with no dry alternative. Water has some depth, and a step down on entry.
Places are 38.50/horse and rider combination, group sizes are limited to 6+guide. All riders must have adequate Public Liability Insurance to cover themselves and their horses. Under 18s are welcome but on a first visit must be accompanied on the ride by an adult rider.
